When the paint is applied to the substrate surface, the adhesion of the paint must reach a satisfactory level to avoid peeling paint on the surface during the use of the finished product.

Usually there are three different test methods to evaluate the peeling resistance of the coating on the surface: Crosshatch, hundred-cell tester, plot-drawing test machine.

The Crosshatch is a clearly detailed test method. A specific tool (high-alloy steel) is used to draw a diagonal grid at right angles through the surface to quickly assess the surface coating or other coatings (multilayer coatings) capable of anti-flaking.

The non-destructive film thickness gauge uses the principle of magnetic induction for ferrous substrates and the eddy current principle for non-ferrous surfaces.
